Dubai Opera unveiling of “Echo of Casta Diva” by Greek sculptor Nikos Floros

On the evening of September 19 at Dubai Opera, under the auspices of the Hellenic Embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Greek community alongside guests from around the globe came together to celebrate the world premiere sculpture unveiling of “Echo of Casta Diva” by renowned sculptor Nikos Floros.
Towering at nearly three meters in height and crafted from bronze and gold, Floros’ extraordinary sculpture presents a three-dimensional visualisation of Callas’ voiceprint. The premiere unveiling at Dubai Opera signifies the close cultural bond between Greece and the UAE.
During the ceremony, in his remarks, the Consul of the Greek Embassy in Abu Dhabi Panagiotis Kougiou emphasised the international significance of Greek art and the honour of hosting Floros’ work in Dubai. Dubai Opera’s director Paolo Petroccelli highlighted that the unveiling coincided with the season-opening premiere of Puccini’s La Bohème. Thousands of visitors attending in the coming weeks will have the opportunity to admire this specially created tribute to Callas, which for the first time in history renders a voice as sculpture.
